Our Game of Thrones tour includes 3 main filming locations in Split area:

- The streets of Split and Substructure halls of Diocletian’s Palace

- The fortress of Klis

- The 13th century water mill in Zrnovnica

The Games of Thrones tour begins with exploring the Diocletian’s Palace, 1.700 years old residence of Roman Emperor Diocletian, which streets actually became the streets of Meereen - "A grand old city ... choking of violence, corruption, and deceit." … according to Varys.

​

During approx. 1 hour of this first part of the tour we will walk through the narrow streets of the old town to visit the locations where the Slave Rebellion Scenes were filmed, ending the tour at the Substructure halls of the Palace, the place of Daenerys’ Throne Room and the basement where her Dragons were kept.

Our next destination is the Fortress of Klis, GoT’s City of Meereen! In a car or in a minivan we will reach the small village of Klis in approx. 20 minutes ride from the centre of Split. During about 2 hours of this part of the tour you will see all the locations where the famous scenes from the City of Meereen were filmed and also hear the short story of the events that had a key role in Croatian history.

The Klis Fortress is a medieval fortress located at 360 meters altitude above the village of Klis. Due to its strategic position, the fortress of Klis has been throughout history considered as one of the most important fortifications in the entire region. Today, it is one of the most valuable preserved examples of defensive architecture in Croatia, one of the reasons why it has been chosen for GoT’s filming locations.

On our tour we will take an insight into the fortress and its defensive towers, walls, military constructions, entrances and corridors and you will also have the opportunity to see the collection of the arms, armours and traditional uniforms. Most of all, we will enjoy all the filming locations and the great scenario, one of the most spectacular views and panoramas in the entire region: Raised on a massive mountain rock and inaccessible from three sides, the fortress overlooks the city of Split, the ancient Salona and the modern city of Solin, cities of Kastela and Trogir and the islands of Brac, Solta and Ciovo.

Finally, we will drive to the small village of Zrnovnica to visit the 13th century water mill filming location on the Zrnovnica river.

Upon request, a traditional Dalmatian peka (chicken, lamb, veal, octopus, pork, … with vegetables, cooked and baked in a traditional Dalmatian way, under the lid), can also be arranged at the restaurant next to the mill.
